A New Song

Saturday · Anchor: Ps.40.2-3· preview (not yet released by the daily cron)

From the sermon Jesus, the Savior They Did Not Expect

He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.

Life will knock you down. That's not pessimism; it's reality. You'll face disappointment, loss, confusion, grief. You'll walk roads you didn't want to walk. You'll ask questions you didn't expect to ask. And in those moments, it will feel like you're stuck in the mud, sinking, with no solid ground beneath you.

But here's the promise: God draws you up. He doesn't leave you in the pit. He doesn't let you drown in the mire. He reaches down, pulls you out, and sets your feet on solid rock. And when He does, He gives you something new—a song you didn't have before. A song of His faithfulness. A song of His rescue. A song that can only be sung by someone who's been through the mud and come out clean.

Your story of disappointment can become your testimony of His goodness. The very thing that knocked you down can become the platform from which you proclaim His faithfulness. Don't waste your pain. Let it become a song.

The disciples went from 'we had hoped' to 'the Lord has risen indeed.' That's the journey. From past-tense disappointment to present-tense proclamation. And it's the journey God invites you into today.

Pause and consider

What testimony of God's faithfulness do you carry? How has He pulled you out of the pit? Who needs to hear your song today?

Prayer

Father, thank You for not leaving me in the pit. Thank You for pulling me up, for setting my feet on solid ground, for giving me a new song. Help me sing it boldly. Use my story to point others to You.
