From the sermon Treatment of Disciples
Read God's Word
Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me. But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.
— Matthew 18:5-6
Think About It
Question 1: Jesus says that when someone welcomes a 'little one' who believes in Him, they're actually welcoming Jesus Himself. Who are some 'little ones' (followers of Jesus) in your life that you can welcome and encourage this week?
Question 2: The sermon explained that God blessed Abraham and promised to bless those who blessed him and curse those who cursed him (Genesis 12:3). Because we belong to Jesus, that same promise applies to us! How does it make you feel to know that God cares so much about how people treat His children?
Question 3: In Acts 9, Jesus asked Saul (who became Paul), 'Why are you persecuting me?' even though Saul was actually persecuting Jesus' followers. What does this teach you about how close Jesus is to His disciples?
Question 4: The sermon mentioned Hebrews 10:24-25, which says we should 'stir one another up toward love and good works' and not stop meeting together. Read that passage now:
And let us consider how to stir one another up toward love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
— Hebrews 10:24-25
What are some practical ways you can 'stir up' other Christians toward love and good works at church, at school, or at home?
Question 5: Jesus warns that causing one of His 'little ones' to sin is extremely serious. How can you be careful not to lead other believers (especially younger kids) away from following Jesus? What kind of example do you want to set?
