Every Part Working

Saturday · Anchor: Eph.4.16

From the sermon Marks of a Dangerous Church

Paul paints a picture of a body 'joined and held together by every joint… when each part is working properly.' Every part. Not just the visible ones. Not just the gifted ones. Every single part.

You might feel like a small part. Maybe you're not up front. Maybe you don't teach or lead or sing. Maybe you just show up, set up chairs, greet people, pray quietly in the back. But here's the truth: the body needs you.

When one part stops working, the whole body suffers. When one joint seizes up, movement becomes painful. When one ligament tears, strength is compromised. You are not optional. You are essential.

God didn't place you in this body by accident. He arranged the members 'as He chose' (1 Corinthians 12:18). He gave you gifts, a story, a personality, a set of experiences — all for the building up of His people. When you withhold yourself, you withhold what the body needs.

So don't wait to be asked. Don't wait to feel qualified. Don't wait until you have it all together. Just start. Serve somewhere. Love someone. Use what God gave you. Because when each part is working properly, the body grows. It builds itself up in love. It becomes dangerous.

And that's exactly what the kingdom of darkness fears most.

Pause and consider

What gift, skill, or experience has God given you that the body needs? What's one way you can put it to use this week, even in a small way?

Prayer

Father, thank You for placing me in Your body. Forgive me when I've held back, thinking I have nothing to offer. Show me where You want me to serve, and give me the courage to step in. Use me, Lord, for Your glory and the good of Your people.
